Project Description:

Following the acquisition in late 2006 of the MuseumPlus collections management system software (a commercial product developed by Zetcom Ltd), The Ashmolean has gradually been tailoring the system to its needs, setting standards for the recording of catalogue and management information about its objects, updating existing data to match the newly-set standards, and creating new data. Although not itself available beyond the Museum, data from the MuseumPlus system will eventually drive the provision of object data on the Museum's website, starting with the Yousef Jameel Online Centre for the Study of Islamic Art. Given the size of the Museum's collections, work on data tidying and data creation is likely to continue for several years.
