Deadline Extended: Being Human festival open call

This open call is made to anyone with a connection with humanities research (e.g. universities, museums, galleries, archives, libraries, subject societies, heritage sites etc.) but all events must directly involve a professional humanities researcher (see the FAQs for more info). The festival's organisers are looking for innovative, participatory and creative activities that foster genuine, two-way connections with people not usually engaged with academic research. Take a look out their open call guidelines for some ideas of good formats that can run in person, online or in hybrid forms. They are particularly hoping to hear from those in the East of England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the North East – as these are areas that are often underrepresented in the festival programme. The deadline is Monday 28 June.

They have also just extended the deadline for Being Human Café applications to Friday 27 August. Cafés are a simple off-the-shelf format – perfect for those who are not sure where to start, or are new to public engagement.

More information about how to apply is available on their website: https://beinghumanfestival.org/apply/.

Furthermore, booking for their first online masterclass is now open! This free, online session will take place on Tuesday 6 July and is aimed at those taking part in this year’s festival, but open to all interested in public engagement in the humanities more generally.
