Project Description:

This project is currently in its early stages, with the overall aim being to create a leading digital resource for the pre-Arabic languages and cultures of the Middle East.

To date we have scanned over 4,000 slides and negatives of photographs of inscriptions in ancient languages including Hismaic, Nabataean, and Safaitic. We are in the process of combining these images with transcriptions, transliterations, and translations of these inscriptions, along with research notes and bibliographic information, and the aim is to provide this database as a leading online resource for the study of these languages and texts.
